This Anti-Inflammatory Roasted Cauliflower With Turmeric recipe is bursting with flavor and nutrition! Both of the main ingredients are positively loaded with science-backed health benefits.

Cauliflower benefits for health

If you’re looking for a healthy snack that’s loaded with benefits, you can never go wrong with cauliflower! It’s by far one of the most versatile vegetables on the planet. The veggie gained popularity over the last few years because of its chameleon-like ability to become everything from pizza crust to “chicken” wings.

However, cauliflower is absolutely delicious and nutritious even when it’s just being itself! Let’s check out some of the amazing benefits.

cauliflower health benefits

A rich source of vitamins and minerals

Cauliflower contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help support your heart health, fight cancer, and inflammation. One serving (a cup’s worth) has just 25 calories, but it’s packed with 77% of your daily vitamin C requirement. That one cup also gets you 20% of your Vitamin K, 14% of folate, and 11% of your daily B6 needs. In fact, according to Healthline, it contains, “some of almost every vitamin and mineral that you need.”

Good source of fiber

Along with all of the basic vitamins and mineral, the nutty-flavored vegetable is also a pretty good source of fiber. Depending on the size of the head you use, this anti-inflammatory roasted cauliflower recipe delivers between 5-16 grams of it (5 for a small head, 16 for a large one). Not only does fiber keep you “regular,” it also helps you feel full longer. So, a serving of this tasty snack is far more satisfying than a fistful of chips!

Helps detoxify your body

Cauliflower can also help improve your body’s ability to detoxify. It contains antioxidants which support Phase 1 detoxification and also sulfur-containing nutrients for Phase 2 detox.

Healthline also explains that the veggie is high in choline, a mineral that most of us don’t get enough of. One cup contains roughly 11% of our RDA. Choline is important to our neurological health as well as regulating cholesterol levels in our liver. Very few foods contain choline, which is why we’re so lacking in it.

May help fight cancer

Last, but far from least, some studies found that eating a diet rich in the veggie can help ward off certain types of cancer, including breast cancer. Did you know that breast cancer just became the #1 most diagnosed type in the world, passing right by lung cancer?

Benefits of eating turmeric

If you’re wondering what makes this recipe “anti-inflammatory,” the secret lies in turmeric. Although cauliflower definitely plays a role (particularly because of its Vitamin K content), turmeric is an absolute scene-stealer when it comes to fighting inflammation in the body.

The flavorful spice contains certain bioactive compounds that make it one of the best pain relievers that nature has ever given us. The main compound, curcumin, not only relieves inflammation, it also has antioxidant effect.

Aside from its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric is said to have up to 150 positive health benefits! Let’s check out just a handful of them.

Getting enough turmeric is a challenge

All that said, it’s hard to get a therapeutic dose of turmeric from foods alone. Most experts recommend taking supplements containing curcumin. The downside? Curcumin supplements have a very hard time absorbing into your body. So, you need to pay really close attention to the brand and additives. Healthline has a good ranked list, if you’re interested.

Your best bet is to get as much as you can from food sources, then fill in the gaps with supplements (after talking to your doctor, of course). That’s where this tasty anti-inflammatory roasted cauliflower with turmeric comes into play! Start with a high-quality organic turmeric, like this one from Simply Organic.
