Barack Obama: The First Gay President?

By Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson

Liberal black author Toni Morrison hailed Bill Clinton as the “first black president.” If Clinton was the first black president, then Newsweek was correct in declaring Barack Obama the “first gay president.”

From the repeal of DADT (Don’t ask, Don’t Tell) to his sudden support for same-sex marriage, President Obama said he has “evolved” and now favors same-sex marriage. The president may have “evolved”, but that doesn’t mean black Americans are evolving with him.

Gay Is Not A Black Agenda

Obama became the first U.S. president to express support for same-sex marriage couples to marry. Obama believes that he owns more than 90 percent of the black vote; therefore, he’s spending his time and energy wooing homosexuals and Hollywood liberals with deep pockets. He recently endorsed same-sex marriage ballot initiatives in Washington state, Maryland and Maine.

In 2008, Proposition 8—a measure that said, “only marriage between a man and a woman is recognized or valid in California” was supported by more than 60 percent of blacks. Clearly, changing the definition of marriage is not a priority in the black community.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the black unemployment rate is over 14 percent (28.6 percent for black youth). Seventy percent of black children are born out-of-wedlock; there is skyrocketing black-on-black crime with more than 400 murders this year in Chicago alone; and some 1,800 black babies are aborted daily (16 million since 1973!). Most black Americans want jobs, better schools, and safe neighborhoods—not gay marriage!

President Obama and his liberal Democrat accomplices like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the NAACP are promoting the lie that this is a “civil-rights” issue. This is an insult to the noble Americans who fought for real civil-rights. Self-proclaimed black leaders know that the majority of their constituents don’t support same-sex marriage, but they’re backing Obama’s efforts to legalize it for political reasons.

Impact on Children

Studies have indicated that homosexual relationships tend to be short term and that the relationships are often volatile. Youth who live in homes without a biological father have the highest odds of incarceration. Living in an intact (heterosexual) family also decreases the risk of first substance use and delinquency (Bureau of Justice Statistics Special Report. Washington, DC: US Department of Justice, 1994.) Sanctioning same-sex marriage will have dire consequences on black children.

Why Black Christians Should Not Support Same-Sex Marriage

The scriptures tell us that God ordained the family, and he put man and woman together as husband and wife in order that they may procreate. There’s a spiritual order to life: God in Christ, Christ in man, man over woman, and woman over children. That order works!

Trying to convince black Americans to abandon their long-held, Biblically-based views is not of God. If black Americans accept the gay lie it would devastate black families and communities. It happened in Sodom and Gomorrah and we know how that story ended!

In my debates with homosexuals who argue for the “right” to wed and have children, I say to them: If God wanted same-sex marriage, he would have ordained it so that two men or women could come together and have children, rather than going outside their sexuality to have kids.

The effort to change the definition of traditional marriage is an attempt by evil to destroy the natural order of God, because once that order is broken, the family and society are destroyed as well.

Radical homosexuals are trying to impose this immoral lifestyle on Christians. We should continue to fight back by turning out on November 6th to defeat this president, support traditional marriage, and back pro-family, fiscally responsible candidates who will put the best interests of this nation ahead of political gain.

BLACK LEADERS FUND ADS AGAINST DEMOCRATS’ GAY MARRIAGE

PLATFORM: A new Texas-based nonprofit called GodSaid announced plans to spend about $1 million on TV and radio ads in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Florida to tell African Americans that “God said marriage is between one man and one woman” and urge them to vote “God’s values and not their party’s.”

Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, are involved with the effort and are raising money through small-dollar donations. The group is not specifically advocating for or against a candidate, but it hopes to “strip away 25 percent of the black vote from the 2008 election,” referring to Democrats.
